It's name is derived from the Deoni taluk of latur district of
Maharastra. This breed is now common in maharastra,north Andhra
and Karnataka. The Deoni cattle breed also known as Dongari(hills)
has been developed from the mixture of Gir,Dangi and local cattle.
Character of head,ears and to some extent horns derived from Gir
(outward and backward) and overall body confirmation from Dangi
cattle of mumbai area.

Fore head is convex and bulging.Males are good workers and female
will produce about 1135 kg of milk in a lactation period of 300 days.
